One of the most famous brands of home party consulting in cosmetics is Mary Kay Cosmetics.
It was founded in 1963 by Mary Kay Ash who chose to develop a program where women sold cosmetics to their neighbors, friends or relatives through parties given in a hostess’s home. The corporation does this on a worldwide basis and has an annual wholesale sale’s revenue of more than 2.2 billion dollars worldwide.
There are two ways a consultant can make money:
- by sales of cosmetics
- by recruiting other consultants.
The bulk of consultants earn less than $200 per year, although the national directors earn over $100,000. Various types of cosmetics are sold through the organization. Avon also sells products on a home party basis.
